A New Beginning To A Beloved Classic
In L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz the story simply begins:"Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies, with Uncle Henry, who was a farmer, and Aunt Em, who was the farmer's wife."Three simple characters that have touched our lives in such deep and inspiring ways. But a question always remained, both for the young and old alike: "What if *I* was able to travel to the marvelous Land of Oz?" Well, no longer will you have to wish really hard and click your silver slippers together three times (or for the men out there, no longer will you have to build a hot air balloon and belong to a carnival)! Coming soon: HEROES OF OZ, the official Wizard of Oz role-playing game. I’m very, very excited about this game! Having been a fan of the Oz books since I was a child, and also being an RPG enthusiast, I couldn’t be happier abot “Heroes of Oz”! When will it be available? I can’t wait to get my copy!!!
Hi Mike, this game looks great – I’m looking forward to it! In the meantime, I’ve created a record for it at http://boardgame.geekdo.com/rpg/6246/heroes-of-oz.
Let me know if anything needs editing, and if you have a jpg I can post, send it to me. When the book is out, let me know and I’ll create an Item record for it.
I do have a question: what makes it “official?”

Official? I know the trademark is still registered and the more current books are copyrighted, but I don’t know by whom.
Well, as official as you’re going to get, and we’re trying to make it moreso. 🙂
Let’s see, most of Ruth Plumly Thompson’s books are held by the Baum Family Trust, and the remaining Famous Forty are held by either the still-living authors or their families or trusts. Trademarks are by whoever made the derivatives – “The Wizard of Oz” is a trademark held by Warner Bros as far as movies go, which is why the new indie movie is called “L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.”
